Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this site. And anyone can get the same service from a person at Berg, by phone, by email or in person.

1. Our goal
Berg Development wants everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control or screen magnification.
Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are not there on every page yet. The limits we know about are listed below, and we keep working on them.
2. What we have done
- Phones and zoom. Pages fit a phone screen. You can zoom in; the site does not block zoom.
- Language. Every page tells screen readers that it is written in English.
- Images. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions.
- Labels. Buttons and links have names that assistive technology can read. So do most form fields.
- Keyboard focus. When you move with the Tab key, links and buttons show where you are with an outline or a highlight. A few text boxes show it with a change of border or shadow instead of an outline.
- Less motion. If your device asks for reduced motion, the site's entrance animations and button effects switch off on most pages. The background clips on the home page are an exception. See the known limits below.
- Status messages. Short messages, such as "Saved", are announced to screen readers.
- Films. Films with sound do not start by themselves. You press play.
- Plain language. We write in short sentences and avoid jargon.
- These pages. The legal pages have a "Skip to the text" link, real headings, a table of contents and tables that read in order.
3. Known limits
- The 3D studio needs WebGL. The 3D model of your lot, house and roof is drawn with WebGL, a graphics feature of modern browsers. If your browser or device does not support WebGL, the model does not load and the page tells you so.
- The 3D model is visual. You turn and zoom it with a mouse or by touch. It has no full text description yet. The prices, sizes and choices beside the model are regular text and controls.
- Films. The films do not yet have captions you can switch on, or a transcript on the page.
- Background clips. The home page plays short, silent background clips. They keep playing when your device asks for reduced motion. They do not yet have a pause button.
- Form labels. Some form fields show their label only as hint text inside the box. This is true of fields on the home page, of the comment box in the project portal, and of some fields on the crew page.
- Skip links. Pages other than the legal pages do not yet have a "skip to content" link.
- Documents. Agreements, plans and other files in the project portal may not be fully readable by a screen reader.
- Maps and aerial photos. Lot drawings and county aerial photos are images. The key facts about the lot are also given as text.
- Testing. We test the site ourselves. It has not yet had a full review by an outside accessibility specialist.
4. The same service from a person
You never have to use the website to work with Berg. A person at Berg can do everything the site does, with you, by phone, by email or in person:
- look up your lot and explain what fits;
- give you a price for a backyard residence, a roof or a solar system;
- book a Design Session or a site visit;
- take a roofing or solar order and hold your week;
- go over your agreement with you;
- give you project updates, invoices and documents in a format that works for you.
The prices and the service are the same.
- Phone: (747) 588-6496. Calls through a relay service are welcome.
- Email: taron@bergdevelop.com
- In person: 2316 W Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506
5. How to report a barrier
If something on the site does not work for you, please tell us. It helps to include:
- the page you were on;
- what you were trying to do;
- the device, the browser and any assistive technology you use.
Call (747) 588-6496 or email taron@bergdevelop.com. A person reads every report and replies to it. While we fix the problem, we help you get the same thing done another way.
6. Pages run by other companies
Online signing happens on DocuSign's pages. Invoices open on Xero's pages. Those companies control how accessible their pages are. If one of them does not work for you, tell us. We can go over your agreement or your invoice with you in another way.
