Privacy Policy
This policy explains what this website collects, why we collect it, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and the choices you have.
Last updated: November 5, 2026 · Effective date: November 5, 2026
1. The short version
- We collect what you type into the site: an address, your contact details if you give them, and your choices.
- We look up public records about the property.
- We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising.
- The site has no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Any analytics we use work without cookies.
- We send no automated marketing emails or texts. A person from Berg follows up.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information. Email or call us.
"Berg", "we" and "us" mean Berg Development Inc. This policy covers this website, including the design studio, the roofing and solar shops and the project portal.
2. Notice at collection
What we collect when you fill in a form
- Contact details: your name, email, phone number and the property address.
- Project details: your choices in the studio or the shop, your electric utility and usage, the week you pick, and your notes.
- Your answers to our short questions. These cover why you are asking, how long it has been a problem, when you want it done and who else decides. They also cover whether a price range works for you and, for solar, your usual monthly bill.
- Unfinished forms: if you leave a form before you finish, the site may save what you typed so far. See What we collect.
- Technical data: your browser type and IP address, used for security and limits.
Why
To prepare your estimate, to contact you about your request, to schedule and carry out your project, and to keep the site secure.
What we do not do with it
We do not sell it. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (ads based on what you do on other websites). We do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or bank or card numbers on this site.
How long, and your rights
See How long we keep it and Your choices and California rights. To ask a question or make a request, email taron@bergdevelop.com or call (747) 588-6496.
3. What we collect
From you
- Address lookups. The property address you type, and the search text as you type it.
- Requests. Your name, email, phone number, property address, the best time to call, the name of another decision maker if you give it, and your notes.
- Short questions. Your answers on the home page. They cover why you are asking, how long it has been a problem, when you want it done and who else decides. They also cover whether a price range works for you and, for solar, your usual monthly bill. The site turns the answers into a simple score that tells us how soon to follow up.
- Design choices. The residence you pick and its size, style, colors and upgrades. Your roof material, brand, color and quantities. Your electric utility, your usage, and the panels, inverter and battery you choose. The week you pick and the price you saw.
- Orders. All of the above. The site also checks that you ticked the consent box.
- Project portal. The access code you type, and the comments you post.
- Your project. Photos and notes from the crew, your schedule, your agreement and whether it is signed, your invoices and whether they are paid, and your documents.
- Calls, emails and texts. What you tell us when you contact us directly.
Unfinished forms
If you leave a form before you finish, the site may save what you entered so far.
- What is saved. The address, your answers and choices, and the price you saw. Your name, email, phone number and notes are saved only if you sent a request or ticked the consent box. Without that, the site does not keep them.
- Why. It shows us where people stop.
- Who may follow up. A person from Berg may call, text or email only people who sent a request or ticked the consent box. Ask us and we delete what was saved.
From public records
When you enter an address, our server asks public data services about that property:
- Los Angeles County: the parcel outline and parcel number, and assessor facts such as building size and year built. Also building outlines and heights from the county's aerial survey, tree cover and fire hazard zones. And the county aerial photo of the lot and county elevation data. Our own software then looks for pools in that photo.
- City services: the zoning for the lot.
- U.S. Census Bureau: the map point for the address.
- OpenStreetMap: nearby streets, through Overpass API servers (overpass-api.de and overpass.kumi.systems) that other groups run.
These records are public. They describe the property, not you. We do not show or save who owns a property.
Automatically
- IP address. Used to limit how many lookups, forms and sign-in tries come from one connection.
- Browser type. Saved with a request or an order you send.
- Server logs. Cloudflare records basic request data for security and troubleshooting: the time, the address of the page or lookup, your IP address and your browser type. A lookup request includes the address you searched.
- Step counts. How many times a day a step was reached, such as "address entered". These are totals with no personal information.
- Analytics without cookies. We can count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. When it is switched on, it counts page views, the referring site, the browser and device type, the country and the page speed. It uses no cookies and does not track you across other websites.
- Cookies. This site sets four of its own:
bp_portalfor customers,bp_crewfor Berg's crew,bp_adminfor Berg's admin, andbp_gatewhile the site is in private preview. The first three keep a person signed in. The last remembers a preview passcode. Cloudflare may add one security cookie of its own. See the Cookie and storage notice.
The site does not read your device's location or microphone. It opens your camera only when a crew member chooses to take a photo to upload.
4. Why we use it
- To show what fits on a lot, draw the 3D model and work out an estimate.
- To answer you. A person from Berg calls, texts or emails about your request.
- To book Design Sessions and site visits and to hold a start week.
- To prepare your agreement and invoices, plan the schedule, do the work and run your project portal.
- To keep the site secure and stop abuse.
- To see, in totals, how the site is used and to fix problems.
- To meet our legal duties, such as contractor, tax and accounting records.
We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal effects. The score from the short questions only helps us decide how soon to follow up.
5. Who processes it for us
We use the companies and public services below to run the site. Each one gets only what it needs for its job.
| Who | What it does for the site | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts the site and runs its code (Workers). Stores our records (KV) and the files people upload, such as photos, documents and signed agreements (R2). Limits abuse. Can count visits without cookies (Web Analytics). | Everything the site handles, including what you type, plus basic request data such as your IP address and browser type. |
| DocuSign | Online signing of your agreement, when it is set up. | Your name, your email and the agreement itself, which includes the property address, the scope and the price. DocuSign also records the signing. Depending on its settings, DocuSign may email you about the signing. |
| Xero | Invoices and pay links, when it is set up. | Your name, email and phone, and the invoice: what it is for (with the property address) and the amount. Depending on its settings, Xero may email you invoice reminders. |
| Anthropic | An AI model that may read the county aerial photo of a roof to estimate its shape. | A crop of the county aerial photo of the roof, the building outline, the building height and the year built. Not your name or contact details. |
| Los Angeles County data services | The source of public records: parcel outline, assessor facts, building outlines, heights, tree cover, fire hazard zones, aerial photo and elevation. | The address text, map location or parcel number being looked up. Not your name or contact details. |
| City zoning services (Los Angeles, Burbank, Pasadena, Glendale) | The source of the zoning for the lot. | The map location being looked up. |
| U.S. Census Bureau geocoder | Turns a typed address into a map point. | The address text. |
| Overpass API servers (OpenStreetMap data) | The source of nearby street lines. Other groups run these servers (overpass-api.de and overpass.kumi.systems). They serve OpenStreetMap data. | A map location. |
| Freddie Mac data | The public weekly mortgage rate survey behind our payment example. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is the backup source. | Nothing about you. Our server downloads a public file. |
| Google Fonts and jsDelivr | Deliver the typeface and, on the 3D pages, the 3D library to your browser. | Your IP address and browser type, as any web server does. They are not meant to set cookies on this site. |
When you sign in DocuSign or pay from a Xero invoice, you are on their pages. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Others we share with
- Berg's team and crew. They see what they need for your project.
- People needed to do the work. The city or county for permits and inspections, your electric utility for solar approval, and the engineers, suppliers, makers and subcontractors on your project.
- When the law requires it. For example, a court order.
- A new owner. If Berg is sold or merged, records pass to the new owner under this policy.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. That means ads based on what you do on other websites.
- We do not put advertising cookies, ad pixels or ad networks on the site.
- We do not send automated marketing emails or texts. The website itself sends no emails or texts at all.
- We do not give your details to other companies for their own marketing.
- We do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or bank or card numbers on this site.
DocuSign and Xero have their own settings. Depending on those settings, they may email you about a signing or an invoice. Those emails come from them, not from Berg's website.
7. How long we keep it
| What | How long | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Requests you send | Until you ask us to delete it | Call-back, guide, session and saved-quote requests: your name, email, phone, address, choices, answers, notes and browser type. Unfinished forms are kept the same way. |
| Project records | Until you ask us to delete it | Orders and Design Sessions: address, contact details, quote, week, schedule, agreement status, invoices and access code. We may have to keep contracts and invoices longer. See the note under this table. |
| Portal photos, comments and documents | Until you ask us to delete it | Includes the signed agreement file. |
| Week holds on our calendar | Until Berg releases the week, or you ask us to delete it | The week, the project and your name. |
| Lookup log | 90 days | The address searched, the parcel found, the time and the result. No name and no IP address. |
| Address search memory | 7 days; suggestions 1 day | Links the search text to a parcel so the next lookup is faster. |
| Public records for a lot | 30 days | The lot facts behind the 3D model, and the county aerial photo of the lot. |
| Roof shape estimates | 90 days | Estimates that could not be finished are retried within 1 hour. |
| Abuse counters | 1 day | Counts per IP address of lookups, forms and orders. Sign-in lockouts last 30 minutes to 1 hour. |
| Daily step counts | 400 days | Totals only, such as how many addresses were entered that day. No personal information. |
| Berg's admin activity log | 365 days | What Berg staff did in the admin. An entry can name a project or a customer. |
| Cookies set by this site | 30 days; crew 180 days | bp_portal, bp_admin and bp_gate last 30 days. bp_crew lasts 180 days. See the Cookie and storage notice. |
| Server logs at Cloudflare | A short time set by Cloudflare | Basic request data used to keep the site running and safe. |
| Records at DocuSign and Xero | As long as Berg keeps the agreement or invoice | Signed agreements and invoices are business records. |
Records we may need to keep. If you ask us to delete your information, we may still keep what the law requires or allows. Examples are signed contracts, invoices, permit and license records, and records needed for warranty work or legal claims.
8. Your choices and California rights
If you live in California, you can ask us to:
- Show you what personal information we have about you, where it came from, why we use it and who receives it.
- Delete personal information we collected from you.
- Correct personal information that is wrong.
We honor these requests for California residents whether or not the California Consumer Privacy Act requires it of a company our size.
How to ask
- Email taron@bergdevelop.com.
- Call (747) 588-6496.
- Or write to Berg Development Inc., 2316 W Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506.
Tell us your name, the property address and what you are asking for. We check that the request comes from you. Usually we do that with the email or phone number we already have. Someone you authorize in writing can ask for you.
We answer within 45 days. If we need more time, we tell you why. The law allows up to 45 more days. Requests are free.
Other choices
- Stop calls, texts or emails. Tell us and we stop.
- No sale, no sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
- Sensitive information. This means things like a Social Security number or a card number. We do not ask for it, and we do not use it to learn things about you.
- Fair treatment. We do not treat you differently for using these rights.
- Marketing by others. We do not give personal information to other companies for their direct marketing. California's "Shine the Light" law lets you ask about that.
9. Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal or a Global Privacy Control signal.
This site does not track you across other websites. It does not sell or share personal information. So the site works the same way with or without those signals. There is nothing for the signal to switch off.
This site has no advertising networks, ad pixels or other tools that follow you from one website to another.
Two outside hosts, Google Fonts and jsDelivr, see your IP address and browser type each time your browser downloads the typeface or the 3D library. Cloudflare sees all traffic to the site because it hosts the site.
10. Security
- The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Sign-in cookies are signed and cannot be read by scripts on the page.
- Sign-in pages limit wrong tries and lock out repeated guessing.
- Photos, documents and signed agreements are private files. The site sends them only to the signed-in customer of that project or to Berg's admin.
- The admin, portal and crew pages are kept out of search engines and cannot be embedded in other sites.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we tell you as the law requires.
Please do not put card numbers or other sensitive details in a form or a portal comment.
11. Children
This site is for adults who own or manage property. It is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child sent us information, contact us and we delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. That is how we tell you about changes, so please check the date when you come back.
